When choosing your wedding photographer, so many questions come to mind...
There are so many friends and family or friends of friends who have a nice camera and are quick to offer their services. Just a reminder, your cake will be eaten, your flowers will wilt and the last song danced to, but your memories on film will carry with you through generations. These are the memories that you will pass along to your children and your grandchildren. Here are a few of the questions that have been asked to us over the years and our response. Feel free to share and be sure to ask these important questions to all who you consider for your wedding photography needs.
Q. How long have you been doing wedding photography?
A. Photo Expressions Today has been capturing beautiful couples for over 16 years. Our business began assisting high school seniors with their portrait photography 16+ years ago. That venture grew to seniors who were getting married, having babies and the rest has been a fairy tale in the making. We have been privileged to share in many, many special memories along our journey, with the most awesome clients that we are now blessed to call friends.
Q. How many weddings have you photographed?
A. As of our last count, we have captured over 175 weddings and our calendar is overflowing with many more special unions to add to the galleries for the upcoming year.
Q. Do you have professional equipment/backup equipment?
A. Yes, we are Canon loyal by choice. We shoot with professional grade equipment and provide backups for our backups. We also use professional lighting should your venue not provide an abundance of natural light.
Q. Do you have liability insurance (VERY IMPORTANT).
A. The answer is yes, your safety as well as our own is one of our greatest concerns. The simplest thing can quickly turn into something dreadful. We are covered, should those unfortunate circumstances occur. Also, some venues require a liability policy before allowing vendors to work with them. Proof of this coverage is available upon request.
Q. Do you have a portfolio of your recent work?
A. Yes, all of our most recent galleries are available to view (unless client requests otherwise) on our website. We also have numerous portfolio samples on our Facebook page.
Q. Do you have references for past work?
A. Yes, references are available upon request. We strive to give our clients the best possible experience on their special day and are so humbled when they share how we have touched their lives.
Q. Do you provide 2 photographers or is there an extra charge to include in package.
A. Yes, 2 photographers are always included in our collections at no additional charge. From the mini-elopement package to our grand platinum package, 2 photographers are always included. Our goal is to provide the most coverage possible and give you the most opportunity to capture the memories of your day. With 2 photographers, we are provided double the opportunity to provide that little something extra.
Q. Do you require a contract to book?
A. Yes, all of our clients are required to submit a contract for services. This protects you as well as us and gives us the opportunity to provide a clear definition of what is included in our services so you know just what you will receive.
Q. Do you provide planning assistance if needed.
A. Absolutely, one of Melinda’s favorite things to do is plan a wedding. Tim will probably say she spends more time online helping brides create their dream wedding than she does anything else. But oh so much fun and the possibilities are endless. We have also worked with numerous vendors over the years and love sharing our knowledge and who we think would be able to provide the best possible service for our clients.
Q. How will I receive my images?
A. Your images will be uploaded in your own personal online gallery. Each gallery is separate from others and divided into 3 sections which can be shared with family and friends. Galleries may also be individually password protected if requested. Final gallery images are also presented on a custom designed USB to the client after processing to include print release for your printing needs.
Q. Do you have a limit to how many photos will be edited?
A. We normally average 150+ edited images per hour of shooting time.We strive to give you more memories captured and more opportunity to sit and reminisce over your special day.
Q. How long does it take to see some of our wedding portraits?
A. Normally wedding sneak peeks are available the very next day following your big day. Weddings are then processed in the order that we shoot to be fair to all of our clients. During peak season, delivery could be 8 weeks or so but we strive to deliver much sooner. Albums and print orders will also need to be accounted for time to design/order/deliver.
Q. Will we be able to share our gallery for out of town guests and family?
A. Yes, unless requested by the client, galleries are loaded to their own personal album on our website and the link is available to share. Prints/gifts may even be ordered by out of town family/guests and delivered directly to those who order.
Q. Are we able to purchase additional prints/albums through you?
A. Certainly and we highly recommend using our professional labs. Our computers are calibrated to their specific requirements for print and we have been ordering high quality products that we are pleased to display for many years. You are however also given a print release to take elsewhere to print at a location of your choice. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee their print quality as quick print labs are not all the same.
Q. What do you love most about wedding photography?
A. The love that we can capture for our couples. Wedding days are stressful, planning is overwhelming and bad weather and unfortunate events happen. But if we can help create that calm and remind you what brought you together in the first place, our job is so very rewarding. We love capturing the true, raw emotion between a new husband who sees his bride walk down that aisle, the proud father who dances with his daughter on her wedding day and the silly memories of the one opportunity you will get to smash cake in your grooms face for all to see.
Memories…..that is what we capture. Those memories to last a lifetime.
