Just Eat Cake...
So the time has come in your wedding planning to chose your wedding cake. The options are endless. Some chose elaborate, multi-tiered cakes, some chose a wedding cake top for the bride and groom with cupcakes for their guests and some chose to forgo cake all together and have pie, cheesecakes or other options. When thinking of your wedding cake, you should consider the design, the flavor, your portion sizes (how many guests you will be feeding) and of course your budget. When planning, you may find that wedding cakes can be quite pricey. However, try to remember, great time, talent and hard work goes into designing your cake and you want it to be something that you can be proud of. Below are a few examples of some of our client's cakes. Remember, the possibilities are endless! So enjoy the process. Also, here are a few tips to help with your planning...
Chose your design. Search Pinterest or Google for some ideas. You may have one vision in mind but seeing other options may help with your fine details or may introduce you to something you had never thought was possible.
Be honest about your budget. Remember the more detailed and intricate the design, the more time and work will be involved in creating your dream cake. If you are on a fixed budget for your cake, think about maybe focusing on larger details or larger blocks of color instead of detailed lacing and piping.
Consider your guest list in regards to your portion size. If you have feeding 25 people, you may not need to budget for a 10 tier cake. Your baker can help you with portion sizes and how many you will need to serve. Another option is the cupcakes or mini cakes to help with your portion sizing requirements.
Make sure you like the style and work of your baker. They should be able to show you some sample pictures of their work and possibly provide you with samples to taste as well. There are lots of possibilities here as well from butter cream to fondant to more intricate sugar design work. Do your research and make sure their style matches what you are looking for.
And don't forget to ask about a Groom's Cake!
